Gyros

Gyros – adapted from Shaye from Food.com

Makes 4 servings

3/4 lb ground lamb
1/4 lb ground beef
2 garlic cloves, minced fine
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon fine salt
Pepper to taste

Preheat broiler. Combine all ingredients.  Form into 4 patties.  Place on a broiler rack or on a sheet pan covered with foil and vented with small holes for the grease to drip through. Broil for 5-6 minutes on each side.  Rest and slice thin.

Tzadiki Sauce – from Alton Brown (without the mint)

16 ounces plain yogurt
1 medium cucumber, peeled, seeded, and finely chopped
Pinch kosher salt
4 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 teaspoons red wine vinegar

Mix all ingredients together.  Done.
